Restaurant Operators Can Now Get Expert Allergen, Gluten and Menu Review Packages with FoodCALC®
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
San Francisco, California September 29th, 2010 - Web-based nutrition analysis company FoodCALC® has announced new extended services for their revolutionary online product MenuCalc®. Clients of the online analysis platform can now access a staff of experts for additional nutrition analysis consulting services. Endorsed by the National Restaurant Association, MenuCalc is the leading resource for online recipe analysis for restaurant operators and culinary professionals.
Though MenuCalc was designed for users to easily obtain real-time nutrition results on their own, the additional consultation option allows for expert assistance with more customized issues, such as allergen identification, gluten investigation, and recipe reviews. The company's staff of Registered Dietitians can also be utilized for a personalized evaluation of a restaurant’s menu or recipe in order to find and suggest ways to make a restaurant’s menu healthier. These may come as suggestions for special orders or suggestions for how to list items on the menu.
"Most MenuCalc clients opt to complete their nutrition analysis projects on their own. The process was designed for restaurant operators to navigate themselves, not just for nutrition professionals and consultants," says FoodCALC's Director of Nutrition and Registered Dietitian, Alyson Mar. "But more recently we have seen a demand for personalized services that go beyond wanting basic analysis results. For example, it has become a menu trend to declare gluten, but because the FDA does not require manufacturers to disclose the presence of gluten in their products, finding its hidden sources is a bit more complicated. These are the types of issues that our staff can help with."
Restaurants of all sizes have already taken advantage of the additional consulting opportunities. "We used FoodCALC's consulting services to ascertain nutrition information from our menu. Alyson did a complete menu analysis, as well as an allergen's review to help us with labeling and disclosures. We were impressed with how easy the process was with an experienced Registered Dietitian as a consultant. She took a lot of the work off our plate and made it into a simple and straightforward process," says Fred Glick, VP Operations for Phil's BBQ.
Gabriel Caliendo, Vice President of Food & Beverage for Lazy Dog Cafe, says: "I'm so glad that we decided to have the experts at MenuCalc evaluate the work we are doing on our menu's nutritional information. Alyson Mar has been so helpful in double checking my work and getting me on the right path."
Individual consulting projects are available to both customers of the MenuCalc platform as well as non-customers. For those not currently using MenuCalc, special projects may include a specialized menu evaluation or a complete menu analysis by a registered dietitian.
